As most of you know by now, we at The Inferno pride ourselves on extreme difficulty.
We want to be known as one of the toughest challenges out there and we've got just the course to make sure that happens!
Introducing the SKULLS Challenge, Oregon's 1st full marathon obstacle course race; that's right, we said marathon!
All challengers will complete two full loops of our half marathon course and perhaps even face a few extra special obstacles
that are just for them? wink, wink. This is one hell of a challenge that we guarantee you will never forget!
- 26.2 Miles
- 60+ Obstacles
- ¼ Mile Swim
- 1+ Mile of Elevation Gain
The SKULLS field will be limited to only 75 athletes and will be the first heat out on race day. Be prepared for a start as early as 6:30am.
For safety purposes, we require a race and/or athletic background for anyone who would like to compete in this challenge.
Please submit your background to email@example.com with the subject line, "Skulls Challenge" to be considered.

Does the mention of a long distance swim have you shaking in your boots?
Well put on your big kid pants and step up to the challenge! Trust us, it won't be that bad!
What we've designed for you:
To make sure all participants have plenty of opportunities to cool off on a hot August day,
you'll find a 200m swim located at some point along the course*.
A swim? What about my shoes?!
If you're not down to swim with your shoes on, kick them off at the dock and come back to them.
Still a little hesitant? Don't worry? We'll have floaties for you!
Here's a little peek at one of the swims, to give you an idea of what it looks like. Get excited!
*Only the 13 mile and 6 mile courses incorporate the swim
At our inaugural event in 2013, two participants Justin Tarr and Alberto Garcia decided to pick up a tire and carry it
through the entire race and hence the Golden Tire Award was born. We now offer this challenge to any participant in our
races - and those that complete the Inferno carrying a tire throughout receive a special award to add to their medals.
Justin and Alberto still hold the record for the longest distance carried, since they hauled those suckers through our 13 mile course
(granted they picked up their tires at the tire carry at mile 2 and decided to hold on to them). The record for finishing the entire
half marathon is still up for grabs. Up to the challenge?
